LIFE AT THE IONIAN
As farming has intensified the UK has lost their connection and understanding of where their food comes from, how it is produced and who produces it. The fragility of the UK's food system is becoming more apparent, showing the growing need for localised community food producers.
The Ionian is a family-run smallholding and restaurant with it's roots in Greece and Italy. The Karapetsas family have been farming sheep and goats in the Greek mountains for decades and have now carried on the tradition in the South West of England. They grow their own produce and rear they own pasture-fed sheep metres away from the busy kitchen where it is all prepared, sharing the understanding of where and how food is produced with their growing community of locals and passersby.
This is an ongoing series following life on the farm and celebrating the community they have built.
